Albany, NY – CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA), an innovative, full-service engineering, design, consulting, and program/construction management firm, has named James F. Trasher to serve as Commercial National Market Director. James is based in CHA’s Syracuse, NY office. In his new role, James will collaborate with clients across the commercial and development landscape to execute projects seamlessly and efficiently with careful considerations to all stakeholders and the surrounding built environment.
“James has been a key member of the CHA team for more than 25 years and has proven himself to be a leader in commercial development,” said CHA Sector President, Commercial & Institutional, John Achenbach. “His expertise with design, complex permitting, and construction management have helped many developers find a better way to deliver their commercial projects.”

James has more than 25 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry in a variety of sectors including large scale residential and commercial development. He has served in a variety of roles at CHA including market segment leader, director of land development and project manager. He has overseen design plans for numerous commercial development projects and worked with some of the country’s largest developers in the design of student housing facilities for colleges and universities throughout the US. James earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in 13 states. James was named to the Central New York Business Journal 40 Under Forty in 2011.
