CHA Receives Award of Merit from Virginia ACEC

CHA Consulting recently received an Award of Merit from the Virginia ACEC for its work on developing the Twin Hickory Park in Henrico County. The park includes two miles of multi-use trails, open space areas, public shelters, a water splash pad, a restroom facility and infrastructure including access roads, parking, and utilities. The property contains several natural environmental features which were preserved and highlighted in the park design. CHA was retained as the prime consultant to update the park master plan, perform final design services, and obtain regulatory approvals.

The Park’s Planning Supervisor, Albert Azzarone, said of the development process, “Twin Hickory Park was yet another positive experience working with the conscientious and creative CHA staff…”

Covering nearly 50 acres, the park was budgeted at $2.3 million. It was completed under budget.

“It is exciting,” said Dave Kaechele of the County Board of Supervisors, “that we can provide this park for the West End  community and continue to improve the quality of life in this area.”
