Laura Christie, PE, has been named a 2026 Young Professional of the Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York). The award recognizes emerging engineering leaders who demonstrate exceptional contributions to their firms, clients, communities, and the future of the profession.
As a Project Engineer at CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA), Laura has built a reputation for her focus on improving energy efficiency, integrating renewable energy technologies, and supporting sustainable thermal solutions in mechanical system designs. Her forward-thinking approach to conventional system design helps create resilient, high-performing systems that better serve communities while reducing environmental impact.
Beyond her project work, Laura is helping shape the future of the engineering industry through leadership, advocacy, and mentorship. As Sustainability Chair for the ASHRAE Northeast Chapter, she promotes environmentally responsible HVAC&R technologies, advances sustainability-focused initiatives, and strengthens professional engagement through technical programming, networking, and collaborative learning.
She also spearheaded the chapter's first Earth Day cleanup event, bringing together engineers and community members in support of environmental stewardship. Her commitment to mentorship extends to emerging engineers, interns, and students, helping them build technical expertise, professional confidence, and a passion for innovation.
“Engineering is about solving real-world problems in a way that is responsible to clients, the environment, and the communities we serve,” said Laura. “I am proud to be part of a profession grounded in ethical responsibility and a commitment to improving our world.”
