Two CHA bridge projects were recently recognized by the Connecticut Road Builders Association (CRBA) at their awards celebration. CHA extends congratulations to ROTHA Contracting Company, Inc. on receiving two awards at the 2025 Arthur Gruhn Excellence in Construction Awards. CHA was proud to be part of the project team supporting these award-winning bridge projects in Connecticut.
The Dexter Coffin Bridge in Windsor Locks/East Windsor received a Large Project Award for using ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) to extend the bridge’s lifespan and improve long-term reliability. CHA developed an innovative solution by encasing the steel in UHPC as an alternative to traditional steel plating. UPHC provides the additional strength needed and protects the girders from the formation of pack-rust.
The Bulkeley Bridge connecting Hartford and East Hartford earned a Historic Award for critical upgrades, including a redesigned lighting system that illuminates the way for travelers. CHA collaborated with CTDOT to enhance the aesthetics of the bridge’s lighting.
These projects reflect CHA’s collaboration and commitment to delivering resilient transportation infrastructure.
