CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) proudly announces the F.E. Everett Turnpike Widening project has been awarded a Gold Award in the Transportation category at the ACEC-NH Engineering Excellence Awards. This prestigious accolade underscores CHA’s commitment to advancing New Hampshire's transportation infrastructure.
The F.E. Everett Turnpike is a vital north-south corridor in New Hampshire, connecting key cities and supporting commerce and tourism. CHA led a multi-disciplinary team, including subconsultants Independent Archaeological Consulting, Inc., McFarland Johnson, Inc., Huntley Survey & Design, PLLC, and VCS Engineering, Inc., to tackle congestion and safety issues through this final segment of the initiative in Bedford, New Hampshire. The project involved widening the turnpike to three lanes, integrating Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and implementing advanced stormwater management practices. By using techniques like step box widening and minimizing Right-of-Way impacts, CHA worked alongside the New Hampshire Department of Transportation to enhance roadway capacity, safety, and sustainability.
For over three decades, the ACEC-NH Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) have celebrated outstanding achievements in consulting engineering. These awards recognize projects that demonstrate exceptional skill and ingenuity, highlighting the remarkable work of engineering firms in New Hampshire.
Congratulations to the project team for their dedication and for showcasing the essential role of innovative, community-focused engineering in advancing infrastructure solutions. CHA accepted the award at a banquet on April 10, 2025.
