Three major transportation infrastructure projects supported by FALCON, a CHA Company, have been honored with 2026 Project Achievement Awards from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Southern California Chapter. Now in its 33rd year, the awards program recognizes projects that demonstrate exceptional professionalism, innovation, and excellence in construction management.
The recognition highlights FALCON's role in helping transportation agencies deliver complex highway, bridge, and mobility improvement projects across Southern California. Through constructability-focused planning, proactive risk management, and field-driven coordination, FALCON supported the successful delivery of projects that improve safety, reduce congestion, and strengthen regional transportation networks.
At one of Southern California's busiest freeway junctions, FALCON provided construction management and inspection services for the SR-71/91 Interchange Flyover project in Corona. Delivered in partnership with the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) and Caltrans, the project replaced an outdated loop connector with a new two-lane direct connector, added auxiliary lanes, and constructed two post-tensioned concrete box girder bridges totaling more than 3,500 feet. Construction took place within a highly constrained corridor bordered by active freeway traffic, rail infrastructure, and the Santa Ana River. FALCON's coordination and oversight helped maintain project momentum while managing complex construction challenges.
The McKinley Street Grade Separation project in Corona addressed a longstanding bottleneck at a heavily traveled rail crossing. The project introduced a new four-lane overcrossing featuring a 300-foot steel tied-arch bridge spanning the BNSF Railway, Arlington Channel, and surrounding transportation corridors, along with significant roadway, ramp, and utility improvements. Serving as Construction Manager, FALCON implemented an innovative staging strategy that separated bridge fabrication from roadway construction, enabling concurrent work and reducing overall schedule duration. Combined with proactive utility coordination and stakeholder engagement, the approach minimized community disruption while improving safety and mobility by eliminating at-grade rail crossings.
The I-15/French Valley Parkway Phase II project delivered critical operational improvements along one of the Inland Empire's most heavily traveled transportation corridors. The project added a two-lane northbound collector-distributor system, constructed a new connector bridge, and incorporated roadway, drainage, and intelligent transportation system (ITS) upgrades designed to reduce weaving conflicts and improve traffic flow between I-15 and I-215. FALCON led construction management and project controls using a constructability-first approach that optimized sequencing, consolidated construction phases, and streamlined paving operations. These strategies reduced schedule duration, minimized impacts to motorists, and supported quality project delivery while maintaining compliance throughout construction.
These award-winning projects demonstrate the value of effective construction management in delivering complex transportation infrastructure. By combining technical expertise, field leadership, and proactive coordination, FALCON helped agencies overcome construction challenges, reduce risk, and accelerate delivery while improving mobility, safety, and long-term transportation performance for communities across Southern California.
