Parking Garage at Albany International Airport

Albany International Airport has grown considerably over the years. With passenger convenience as the top priority, adding additional parking was essential. Working between the busy airport terminal road and a security identification display area, the new $40 million Albany International Airport Parking Garage was built. CHA was responsible for architectural, structural, civil/site design, transportation, environmental, geotechnical, MEP, fire protection, and landscape architecture services. Numerous underground utilities were moved before driving 485 H-piles for the structure.

The five-story structure provides 1,050 additional covered parking spaces. The garage boasts cutting-edge amenities, including an elevated temperature-controlled pedestrian walkway to the main terminal, ticketless entry, energy-efficient fixtures using motion-sensing/daylight-harvesting technology, and a state-of-the-art automated car location system. Rooftop solar panels on the pedestrian bridge save energy costs. The state-of-the-art PARCS system features automated space detection, real-time monitoring, and license plate readers facilitating ticketless entry.
