High School Athletic Improvements

Henrico County Athletic Facilities Improvements were driven by a simple goal: give student-athletes and the community access to high-quality athletic facilities that can be used more often, in more weather conditions, and by more people. Working with Henrico County and Henrico County Public Schools, CHA helped transform aging natural grass athletic venues into modern, multi-purpose facilities designed to support year-round play, practice, and community use.

The initial phase focused on converting existing football stadiums into synthetic turf facilities and reconstructing running tracks, creating reliable, high-performance venues that can withstand heavy use while reducing weather-related disruptions. Upgrades also included drainage, grading, and stormwater improvements that enhanced field performance and longevity. The result was a significant expansion in how the facilities could be used, benefiting school athletic programs as well as community organizations and residents.

Building on that success, CHA continues to support enhancements to the baseball and softball facilities at Henrico High School. Improvements include synthetic turf playing fields, upgraded sports lighting, new fencing and backstops, renovated and replacement dugouts, and enhanced spectator amenities.
