Henry T. Wing School Residences

The Henry T. Wing School Residences transforms the historic 1927 Wing School and auditorium into a vibrant mixed-income senior housing community while preserving its original architectural character. Developed under Massachusetts Chapter 40B, the three-phase redevelopment includes the adaptive reuse of the original school building, a new addition, and two new residential buildings designed in a vernacular Cape Cod architectural style that complements the surrounding historic district.

CHA supported the redevelopment with civil engineering, permitting, and construction administration services, helping transform the historic campus into a functional and sustainable residential community. From early planning through construction, our team collaborated with project stakeholders to address site infrastructure, access and circulation, stormwater management, and regulatory requirements while respecting the historic setting.

This historic rehabilitation and affordable housing initiative brings new life to a community landmark while addressing the growing need for quality senior housing. Designed to support aging in place, the development incorporates modern amenities, accessible design features, and a supportive living environment that promotes health, wellness, and long-term independence.
