Rogers Bridge over the Chattahoochee River

First constructed over 110 years ago, Rogers Bridge, a Pennsylvania Petit truss bridge, once spanned the Chattahoochee River, serving as a historical landmark. Today, this new 320-foot-long pedestrian bridge, designed to replicate the height and truss form of its predecessor, opens the door to expanded access to parklands, public spaces, and the Western Gwinnett Bikeway.

CHA developed, evaluated and presented 14 different bridge alternatives as part of a bridge-type study. The preferred bridge-type alternatives were refined through collaborative design charrettes that involved an extensive list of stakeholders, including the City of Duluth, City of Johns Creek, Gwinnett County, Fulton County, Fulton County Water Authority, GDOT, National Park Service, and Chattahoochee Riverkeepers.

Enhanced with aesthetic treatments that pay tribute to the original, the bridge enhances community connections across Fulton County and Gwinnett County, promoting sustainable infrastructure and fostering deeper ties between the two regions.
