Tivoli Lake Preserve ADA Trails

ADA-accessible trails at Tivoli Lake Preserve are transforming Albany’s largest urban nature preserve into a destination where people of all abilities can explore its scenic landscapes.

CHA led the development of approximately 1.25 miles of ADA-compliant trails, two new trailheads, and wayfinding signage. Our team provided full project management, quality oversight, and detailed engineering design. We defined trail alignments and surfaces, prepared environmental permits and a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and developed options for a playground and pollinator garden. CHA also managed the bid process and provided construction contract management and observation services.

Trail designs relied on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles to enhance visibility, safety, and comfort while preserving the natural landscape's character. Completed on an accelerated timeline to secure critical funding, the project is now in its closeout phase. Visitors are already informally using the new accessible trails, enjoying greater connection to nature within this community preserve.
