The Glenmore Road State Armory Field Maintenance Shop (FMS) provides critical infrastructure to support the readiness and operational efficiency of the New York Army National Guard. CHA coordinated a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated design and construction administration services to develop this 19,000 SF facility.
The building supports training and administrative personnel, repair of combat and tactical vehicles, and includes work bays with a 10-ton bridge crane. The project incorporates designated Military-Owned Vehicle and Personnel-Owned Vehicle parking, upgraded roadways, sidewalks, and controlled entry points with security fencing and vehicle and pedestrian gates. The design integrates accessibility upgrades and antiterrorism measures to align with current standards. Site design improvements enhance functionality, access, and security across the armory campus.
The FMS is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, reduce lifecycle maintenance demands, and meet all applicable codes and National Guard Bureau standards. In accordance with Department of Defense Unified Facilities Criteria, the facility is designed for a minimum 50-year service life, delivering a durable, high-performance asset that supports military readiness and operational resilience.
