The Parks at Cherry Hill is a multi-phase park redevelopment initiative advancing recreation, trail connectivity, and community revitalization in French Lick, Indiana. CHA served as lead designer, translating a community?driven vision into an inclusive, high-quality public space. Phase 1 focused on Valley Park, a prominent site along State Road 56, with the demolition of blighted structures, site preparation, utility installation, and construction of new recreational amenities. Enhanced right-of-way access, accessible parking, and cohesive signage create a welcoming park identity. Expanded trail connections link Valley Park to downtown and the French Lick Resort trail system, strengthening pedestrian connectivity to the town’s broader recreational network.
Recreational amenities reflect local character and encourage multigenerational use. A new basketball court, finished with a high?quality Sport Court tile surface in Springs Valley High School colors, celebrates the community’s basketball heritage. Inclusive, age-appropriate playground equipment encourages broad participation, while a 1,100-square-foot shelter house and modern restroom facilities support family use and community events.
Future phases will extend improvements to Hilltop Park, introducing additional multi-sport courts, expanded trails, parking, and public art. These phased investments are shaping a connected, accessible park system that promotes outdoor recreation, supports community wellness, and anchors long-term economic and placemaking revitalization.
Valley Park and Hilltop Park will be united through a connected trail system.
