Track, Turf and Court Improvements

Working with Buncombe County Schools, CHA developed a long-term master plan that established a roadmap for upgrading tracks, fields, and courts across the district through a carefully phased implementation program.

The effort started with the replacement of aging tracks and synthetic turf fields, creating modern competition venues that support athletics, physical education, and community events throughout the year. By approaching the work as a coordinated district-wide initiative, the improvements brought a more equitable athletic experience to students across all six high schools while extending the useful life of key athletic facilities.

As the program evolved, the focus expanded beyond stadiums and tracks to include significant tennis facility improvements. At Enka High School, six existing courts were completely renovated with new pavement, surfacing, fencing, net systems, and drainage enhancements designed to improve performance and durability. At A.C. Reynolds High School, six courts were reconstructed using post-tension concrete, creating a long-lasting playing surface built to support years of competition and practice.
