George H. Mitchell Elementary School

George H. Mitchell Elementary School represents a new chapter for the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District and its youngest learners. When the district set out to replace its aging elementary school, the goal was to create more than a new building. The vision was to provide a welcoming, modern environment where children in Pre-K through Grade 2 could learn, grow, and thrive for generations to come.

Serving as Owner’s Project Manager from feasibility study through design, construction, and occupancy, CHA helped guide the development of the new 132,045 SF school, working closely with the district and the Massachusetts School Building Authority to bring the project from concept to reality. The new three-story facility serves up to 980 students and was designed to support contemporary teaching methods while addressing the educational, accessibility, and infrastructure needs of a growing community.

The project transformed the existing site, replacing the former school with a thoughtfully planned campus that includes improved circulation, expanded parking, and fully accessible outdoor learning and play spaces that extend learning beyond the classroom. Inside, flexible learning environments support collaboration, inclusion, and student engagement, creating spaces tailored to the developmental needs of early learners.

Sustainability was a key priority throughout the project. The LEED Silver-certified building incorporates modern building systems, energy-efficient design strategies, and durable materials that enhance performance while creating a healthy and comfortable environment for students and staff. Today, George H. Mitchell Elementary School stands as a lasting investment in the district's future, providing a safe, welcoming, and future-ready home for early childhood education.
